What is “International Day”?
What is “International Day”?
Many people from overseas are residents of Toyota City, and tens of thousands of people from all around the world visit the city every year. Many citizens have either lived or traveled overseas and people come and go across international borders with increasing frequency. When faced with issues such as the globalization of the economy and global-scale environmental problems, we are starting to realize that we cannot live in isolation from other parts of the world. “International Day” has been established in the hope of making people more aware of the fact that every resident of Toyota City, regardless of nationality, is both a citizen of Toyota and a citizen of the world, so that we all learn to act accordingly.
*On October 1, 1988, Toyota International Association was established with the following philosophy: Internationalization requires that citizens must take a leading role.
Let’s brainstorm! (Think of many possibilities)
Our life consists of strong links with the world. Let’s think about what is happening to the world and how our lives and jobs are connected with such events.
Experience the world
There are many shops and restaurants from various countries in Toyota City. Please enjoy shopping and dining at these places with your family and friends.
Enjoy international sports, culture and arts
In Toyota City, we have many facilities where you can enjoy international sports and art such as museums, concert halls, stadiums and gymnasiums.
At TIA, we hold a small event to introduce and celebrate cultures from all over the world.
Let’s talk about it!
Many people from overseas visit and live in Toyota City. Let’s speak kindly with foreign residents who are far from home and discuss what we can do to make their lives more comfortable.
Let’s enjoy learning.
TIA provides a variety of courses such as learning foreign languages, education seminars for international understanding, and so on.
Also, you can browse information magazines, newspapers, books, etc. from different countries.
Volunteer activities
At TIA, several kinds of volunteer groups are registered. They organize volunteer activities such as host family programs, Japanese language classes, introduction to the Japanese culture, interpretation/translation services and so on. We are also involved in JOCV: Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and the Senior Overseas Volunteers.
People who would like to join the volunteer activities are always welcome.
